Usage[edit]
This template indicates that an article cites the first edition Cyclopædia, or an Universal Dictionary of Arts and Sciences, which is now in the public domain.
Quick explanation (aide-mémoire)[edit]
The template can be placed in different locations and depending on the what it is required the parameters can be mixed and matched:

Detailed notes[edit]
In its default mode this template cites first edition of the Cyclopædia, or an Universal Dictionary of Arts and Sciences.
This template automatically sets some of the parameters for example "publisher = James and John Knapton, et al". Over and above the standard parameter passed into {{cite encyclopedia}} there are some additional parameters and those are listed below in a separate table from the table of parameters passed into {{cite encyclopedia}}.
Minimum is:{{Cite Cyclopaedia 1728|title=Cyclopædia article name}}.

Hidden categories[edit]
This template places all articles transcluding it to the Category:Hârnica articles incorporating a citation from the 1728 Cyclopaedia
It also includes two sub-categories:
- hidden category Category:Hârnica articles incorporating text from Cyclopaedia for any article that transcluds it with the parameter vb=1 is set.
- Category:Hârnica articles incorporating a citation from the 1728 Cyclopaedia without an article title parameter for any article that transcluds it with no title=article name set.
